SWIMMING POOL RULES

Club management, pool manager, and lifeguards have full authority to oversee the use of the pool and its operation.  In inappropriate behavior is observed, lifeguards can enforce these pool rules.

  1. Proper swimming attire, including bathing suits, board shorts, and rash guards, is always required.  Cotton and denim clothing, cutoff jeans, and thong-style swimming bottoms are considered inappropriate and prohibited.  Concerns about attire should be brought to the attention of the Aquatics Manager.
    1. Appropriate swimwear for females must cover the breast (not expose the top edge of the areola or the nipples), buttocks, genitals, and pubic regions.
    2. Appropriate swimwear for males must cover the buttocks, genitals, and pubic regions.

  2. Management and/or lifeguards have the right to close the pool at any time it is, in their opinion, hazardous for swimmers to use the pool.  There may be times when some pools are closed while others are open.
  3. In the event of rain, the pool may remain open as long as there is no thunder or lightning.  If the ThorGuard System detects lightning, the horn will sound, and the Red Light will activate.  Everyone must immediately evacuate the pool and pool deck and seek shelter until the All Clear (3 short blasts) sounds.
  4. The pool will not be opened if the outdoor temperature is 70 degrees or below.  Please call the pool office (815-933-6615) for verification.  Any time the pool is closed for any reason after 5:30 pm, the pool will remain closed for the remainder of the evening.
  5. All members must register their guests at the Desk when entering the pool.  The member must accompany their guest(s) to the pool for their entire stay unless they have purchased a Guest Pass in advance.  Guest Passes must be presented at the registration desk.
  6. All children (age nine [9] and under), whether qualified swimmers or not, must be accompanied by a qualified supervisor.  Without a parent, children may be escorted to the pool and supervised by a sitter.  Qualified supervisors of children must be at least fifteen (15) years of age or older and will not be charged a guest fee.  Exceptions to the unsupervised minimum age are made for "club supervised events" (i.e.: swim and dive team practices and for private lessons), but only for the their scheduled practice times.
  7. Parents and qualified supervisors are reminded to be responsible for minor children using the baby pool.  During periods of maximum use, children seven (7) years of age and older are not permitted in the baby pool.
  8. Children who are not toilet-trained must wear protective water-tight bathing suits when in the pool.
  9. No breakable bottles or glass containers will be permitted in the pool, deck or bathhouse area.
  10. No smoking is allowed in the pool building or the fenced pool area.
  11. Special arrangements can be made for using the pool for a pool party.  Subject to the size and scheduled activities, parties can be held during regular pool hours, or arrangements can be made for after-hours.  Please see the posted Private Events page.
